In 1999 en 2000 the youngsters had health problems and due to that we could not
fill up empty places in our racing loft. If you have only a small loft you have
more difficulty dealing with problems.
To overcome problems in the future an aviary was put up against the young bird
loft in the spring of 2001. In that year 18 babies were being raced. After the
season we still had 15. After a thorough selection 12 of them were put in the
racing loft.
These yearlings were trained at shortdistance and middle distance in 2002 and 8
of them have survived. They
will be raced in 2003 as 2 years old plus a special hen (daughter of "Brive").
In
2002 hardly any youngsters got lost so that we do not have problems to fill the
10 nestboxes.
As all the best racers of the previous years were put in the stockloft plus some
birds of the best bloodlines the future looks great (see the family and
breeding birds).
