The man who kept the 'AARDENBIRDS most pure is Piet Lazeroms. He purchased them from Van Stoffelen, Jan van de Par, Toon Ligtenberg and van Van Agtmaal. Sometimes a whole colony at a time so that no birds were skipped (this is what Piet de Weerd advised)

For Piet Lazeroms it was a challenge to reserve the strain Jan Aarden or even make it better. How successful he was is proven by numerous long-distance racers both at home and abroad who all became winners in this sport with the Lazeromsbirds.

In many loft reports on great Dutch long distance champions or national winners you can read the top-birds descend from the sensational ‘Aardenpigeons’ of Mr Piet Lazeroms.

Oude Ligtenberg (64-1096022), the "Oude Ligtenberg" is a pure Jan Aarden, closely related to "Oud Doffertje" of Janus van der Wegen and "Dolle" of Marijn van Geel. "Oude Ligtenberg" is at the base of enormous successes for Piet Lazeroms himself but even more for many others via the Lazeromsbirds.
The "500" of v. Agtmaal (61-141500) was mated to "Oude Ligtenberg". This pair of world class gave excellent breeders such as "NUL-twee" (67-1561002), "NUL-drie" (67-1561003), "NUL-achttien" (67-1561018), "427" (69-2025427), ""433" (69-2025433) and so on. A book could be written about the successes of the descendants of these Jan Aardenbirds.
The "26" (65-567226) undoubtedly the best hen at long distance ever. She was a daughter of "Oude Stoffelen" (58-315130) x "500" (61-141500). This hen won 4th National Dax, 6th national. Dax, 13th National. St.Vincent, 16th National Dax, 17th National St.Vincent, 44th National Dax, 74th National Dax, 220 National Dax, 327 National Dax, 508 National St.Vincent, 580 National St.Vincent, 689 National . Bergerac. This "26" had a great impact on the Lazeromsstrain.
The "Oude Sproet" (66-2029053) is a sensational basic bird, bred by Piet Lazeroms and closely related to the legendary "10" from Antoon Ligtenberg (54-472110) x the "Oude Stoffelenduivin". The "Oude Sproet" himself won 2nd National St Vincent and 21^st National Dax, both races held in the hard season 1968. But as a breeder the "Oude Sproet" was of even more value. She became the mother and grandmother of a lot of winners on the long distance races. The "Oude Sproet” (66-2029053) was mated with the worldfamous "38" of Jan Aarden. This couple gave a lot of super birds such as "Gouden Crack" (69-2096674), "86" (69-2096686). "Gouden Crack” and "86" (brother and sister) were mated for many years. Many fanciers both at home and abroad owe their successes to the incredible ‘breeding qualities’ of this pair..

Now at the wake of the 21st century this superior ‘LAZEROMS/AARDEN’ strain has lost nothing of its value. That’s why Cor de Heyde of Made went to the little town of Zegge. Piet Lazeroms gave him the "Klamper'' (84-1870149), bred off of 74-2385421 x 79-1461678. "421" is a son of the faboulous hen "26". The "678" is of the bloodline of "Oude Sproet". The ‘Klamper’ is a miracle as a breeder and made Cor de Heijde famous all over the world. He also got from Lazeroms the 308-duifje (81-F308) which was her halfsister.. This 308-duifje won 15 prizes in the National races for Piet Lazeroms.

	The attraction at the auction in the town of Zundert was 't Kleintje ( 81-1524). She was the best hen which was sold then and was off of the same mother. 't Kleintje won 13 prizes among which 14^th National Dax (12.943 birds), 39th National St.Vincent (16.629 birds) and 41^st National Bergerac (13.302 birds).
A remarkable bird is also "Prinses Petra"( 87-2328857), the basic hen of Bros Maas from Zundert. She is a granddaughter of 308-duifje.
